Ten days is the length of time it takes to genuinely understand what East Africa is. This itinerary does not pick one country or one ecosystem — it moves through six of them. You begin in Kenya's Maasai Mara, flying in from Nairobi on day one and landing directly into one of the most wildlife-dense reserves on the continent. Three days here cover the Mara River crossing points, big cat territories, and the sweeping open savannah that defines the northern half of the Great Migration ecosystem. On day four, a bush flight carries you south into Tanzania and the Serengeti, where you pick up the same migration story from the other side. Two full days at Ole Serai Luxury Camp in Seronera put you in the heart of the park's most productive game-viewing zone, surrounded by resident lion prides, leopards, and cheetahs operating across the acacia-dotted plains. Then on day six, everything changes. A flight to Zanzibar exchanges dust and savannah for white coral sand, turquoise water, and four nights of complete decompression at Toa Hotel and Spa. The combination of safari and beach that defines this package is the reason most travellers come to East Africa in the first place.

The tour title references six distinct wildlife areas and destinations across Kenya and Tanzania. In Kenya, the route covers the Maasai Mara National Reserve — specifically the Mara River zone where river crossings concentrate during migration season. The Tanzania leg includes the Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and its famous crater, and Tarangire National Park, which is referenced in the safari highlights as a key destination for large elephant herds and ancient baobab landscapes. Zanzibar rounds out the sixth destination as the beach extension that closes the trip. The itinerary is designed to deliver the full breadth of East African ecosystems in a single coherent journey, from alkaline Rift Valley lakes to open savannah, volcanic crater floors, elephant-heavy woodland, and Indian Ocean coastline.
Three internal flights are included in the package price. The first is a one-way flight from Nairobi's Wilson Airport to the Maasai Mara airstrip on day one, avoiding the 5 to 6 hour road drive and maximising your time in the reserve. The second is a bush flight from the Mara to Tarime on the Tanzania border, then onward to Seronera airstrip in the central Serengeti, arriving around midday on day four. The third flight moves you from Seronera to Zanzibar on day six for the beach extension. All airport and airstrip transfers are also included. Your international arrival and departure flights into and out of Nairobi and Zanzibar respectively are not included and need to be arranged separately.
The safari portion of the trip is split between two properties. In the Maasai Mara you stay at Entim Mara Camp, a luxury tented camp positioned on the Mara River with direct frontage on one of the most active wildlife corridors in the reserve. In the Serengeti you stay at Ole Serai Luxury Camp in the Seronera area, which sits in the heart of the park near the Seronera River — one of the most productive game-viewing zones in the entire Serengeti ecosystem. In Zanzibar, four nights are spent at Toa Hotel and Spa. All safari nights and Zanzibar nights are on a full board basis, meaning breakfast, lunch, and dinner are covered throughout. Drinks, including alcohol and soft drinks, are not included and are settled directly at each property.
Yes. The current routing is designed as an efficient ten-day programme that covers the most iconic East African destinations within a schedule most international travellers can realistically take. However, the circuit can be extended to include Lake Nakuru National Park — home to the endangered Rothschild giraffe, white and black rhinos, and flamingo-lined alkaline shores — as well as Amboseli National Park at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. Both parks can be incorporated at either end of the Kenya leg, adding between two and four days to the overall itinerary. Contact us via WhatsApp or the enquiry form on this page with your travel dates and group size and we will put together an extended custom itinerary with pricing within 24 hours.
Yes, Kenya and Tanzania are separate countries and each requires its own entry authorisation. For Kenya, most nationalities now need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) online before arrival through the eCitizen portal, which typically costs USD 30 and takes two to three business days to process. For Tanzania, a tourist visa is required for most nationalities and can be obtained either online in advance through the Tanzania immigration portal or on arrival at Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam, or Zanzibar airports. Tanzania visa fees vary by nationality but are commonly around USD 50. If you are entering Tanzania overland from Kenya, border processing applies at Tarime. On this itinerary the Kenya-Tanzania border is crossed by air, so ensure your travel documents are in order for both countries before departure.
The Serengeti in Tanzania and the Maasai Mara in Kenya are parts of the same continuous ecosystem, separated only by an international border. The Serengeti covers approximately 14,750 square kilometres, making it significantly larger, while the Maasai Mara covers around 1,500 square kilometres of protected reserve land. Both are home to the same resident wildlife populations and both form part of the Great Migration circuit, with the wildebeest and zebra herds spending roughly half the year in the Serengeti and moving north into the Mara between July and October before returning south again. The Serengeti is known for its vast open plains and the calving season around January and February, while the Mara is famous for the drama of the river crossings. Doing both in a single trip, as this itinerary does, gives you the complete story of one of the world's most extraordinary natural cycles.
Zanzibar is widely regarded as the ideal partner to a mainland safari, and the Kenya or Tanzania plus Zanzibar combination is one of the most popular itineraries in the region for good reason. The contrast between the intensity of a game-rich safari and the complete stillness of the Indian Ocean coast is hard to replicate anywhere else in the world. Zanzibar's beaches along the east coast at Paje and Jambiani are among the finest in the Indian Ocean, and the historic Stone Town — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — offers a genuinely fascinating afternoon of narrow alleys, spice markets, and Swahili architecture for those who want more than beach time. The island is a 90-minute flight from the Serengeti, making the transition effortless. Our four-night Zanzibar stay at Toa Hotel and Spa on full board gives you enough time to fully decompress after the safari without feeling rushed.
